After workshop #2.2

Last friday we finished the second part of workshop devoted to redesigning the student calendar. Three independent teams have worked on final prototypes.

The first team was focused on creating a compact calendar. Their final design was very ergonomic and vertical orientated. Everyone can also customize this calendar.

The second team had another task. They have designed student information system for the calendar. They decided to outsource every information to the internet and mobile app. One of the team member came up with extraordinary idea to create special "infobox". This device would give any useful information to students of our university.

The third team was focused on clarity. They took care that every part of the calendar would be well designed. They also applied personalization; everyone could put a custom image on the cover.

After Workshop #2.1

Today, the next design thinking workshop was finished in which we were trying to redesign our university student calendar. At this meeting we were analyzing observations about how students of our university use their calendars. We have also found some interesting insights and finally we defined what is the most important need for students.

As a result of our analysis, discussion and final voting, we know what is the most important in designing a new better student calendar:
- clarity design
- compact size
- SPS ("Student Positioning System" - useful information about campus, university, where to eat something fast, coupons, etc.)

At the next workshop we will try to find some new solutions to our challenge.

We want to change the student calendar

At the upcoming workshop our task will be redesigning the student calendar commonly known at our university. During this workshop we will try to discover students' needs and design new genuine solutions. All of our ideas will be posted on this blog.

If you have any observations about our student calendar, please send it to us.

Workshop #2 - application starts

We invite everyone for next design thinking workshop. Upcoming workshop will be divided for to parts. First part will be held at December 14, at 16:00 and will be dedicated to information segregation, discovering insights and defining problems. Second part will be held at December 16, at 16:00 and we will continue our task using brainstorm and rapid prototyping.

Here is a link to application form (only in polish) :

If you can't attend to both parts of the workshop, you can participate only in one part without any problems. Before workshop will be sent an e-mail with all theoretical information to everyone who filled application form. We want to practice only practical skills during workshop so you must introduce with theoretical materials on your own. In "Knowledge" section we constantly add new materials about design thinking.

After Workshop #1

Thanks to everyone for joining our today's workshop. I hope you enjoyed it. Today task was to design ideal wallet for particular person. We went through all phases of design thinking process in very short time. We discovered user's needs, defined problem, brainstormed new solutions, built quick prototypes and gathered feedback.

During workshop 18 unique wallet prototypes were created. There are only a few of our great ideas:

- special shield card to separate two different PayPass cards
- big wallet for women, which is regular wallet and elegant purse at the same time
- OLED display, which displays how many coins we have inside our wallet
- a lot of safety systems
- module wallet (you can choose which part of a wallet you want to use)

Here are a few pictures from this workshop (made by mobile phone) and short video:

Disruptive thinking

Here is a brand new link to short Luke Williams' presentation about "disruptive thinking". One of our workshops will be dedicated to this theme. We will try to completely redesign some stuff or service using these methods:

We start!

We invite everyone for the first design thinking workshop at Warsaw University of Technology,  December 3. We will start at 12:15 (room 165, Main Building)
